Hi, everyone!!!

Hope to get your help!

In my company, we have lots of Cisco video endpoints, like SX10, SX80, SX20, DX80, MX series and IX5000.

But nowadays, we have a lot of questions about the Cisco Proximity.

Some laptops can connect the Proximity of one endpoint, but some can't. Because there are some laptops can connect Proximity, so the endpoint and the cucm, their configurations are correct.

I have checked the troubleshooting guide documents https://supportforums.cisco.com/document/12159326/troubleshooting-guide-cisco-proximity, and i checked all the possibilities, but still no solutions...

The laptops didn't mute( i also have tried to disable all the sound effects), the volume of ultrasound is dynamic( i have tried volume 90, static, can't work) and i also have tried to use my earphone to connect my computer and still "finding video systems", the network, yes, they are in the same network, i can access the webpage of my dx80( there is no https issue).

I contact the Cisco TAC, the guy told me the have no solutions too.

I know the operate system should be 64-bit system, and i am wondering if Cisco Proximity team can give some laptops compatibility list or sound-cards compatibility list. For example, Cisco Jabber, this product have the "Device and OS Requirements", https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/unified-communications/jabber-android/data_sheet_c78-649887.html.

I don't want to say, "Oh, i am sorry, this function is uncontrollable, we have no solution, and Cisco have no solution too'...

I was thinking if we can buy some external sound cards to adapt Cisco Proximity, we have no specifications and requirements, we don't know what to buy. Pls give us some suggestions.

My computer is ASUS A53S, windows 10 64-bit/ i5-2450M CPU/ 8GB memory, and my sound card is ALC269( http://www.realtek.com/products/productsView.aspx?Langid=1&PFid=27&Level=5&Conn=4&ProdID=166).

I have posted my microphone configurations and my proximity log. Pls download the attachment.

Thank you so much!!!!!

Immediate suggestions, based on your uploads:

2. Mic volume: Remove mic boost (Set to 0 dB)

3. Microphone effects: Entirely disable the microphone effects

4. Capture format: Try setting 44.1khz stereo (CD quality)

Also, ensure the correct default recording device is selected, as described in e.g. https://proximity.cisco.com/help/?platform=win&code=AUDCLNT_E_UNSUPPORTED_FORMAT

(That is not the error you are experiencing, but the screenshots show the process for setting the correct recording device)

Thanks for your reply, I will try to change the mic configurations two days later( i am on a business trip now).

And I have found a solution. I bought a usb sound card, and plugged in my earphone, of course, set the usb sound card as the default sound device, and then the proximity can find the video endpoint.

Now i can use Cisco Proximity.

----------------------------

But i am using Proximity, when i page up or page down the ppt, the monitor has some delay, it is because of the connection of the network? What is the presentation fps? 5 fps?

Your findings may indicate the audio hardware or driver in the computers, or their settings, are bad for recording ultrasound. Hopefully changing the settings, or possibly updating the drivers, may help.

As for your frame rete / responsiveness question, the technology currently used in Cisco Proximity severely limits the frame rate experienced. You may see a frame rate of 5 FPS on a fast network.

hi Haiya Li,

Could you please inform to me about spec soundcard USB that compatible with cisco proximity ? Because i have same issue with my laptop.

Regards,

Ferly

Most, if not all, sound cards should be usable with Cisco Proximity given the correct settings. The next version of Proximity should also be more resilient. If anyone else here has had luck using a specific USB sound card, feel free to mention it here =)

Thank you! I had the same Problem and this helped me.
