At Cisco DevNet we see the developer as our customer. And for wannabe developers or for those who are looking to learn new technologies, DevNet offers learning labs at no charge. Log into the labs and click on the Coding checkbox. There will be labs covering REST API basics, coding with Python along with detailed labs that put it all together by providing steps to write basic REST applications with Python. These labs interface with the DevNet Always On sandbox so that developers can test their applications, parse and process data.
More advanced developers who want to learn new technologies can browse through the various APIs and technologies available on DevNet. Developers can simply select a category of their interest such as IoT, Cloud, Networking, Security, Collaboration or Data Center and learn about what technologies and APIs Cisco has to offer. The learning labs mentioned earlier also contain labs from various technologies that can be perused for learning. And of course for each of these technologies there are supported forums in which developers can get answers to their technical questions. DevNet even provides sandbox environments where developers can try out APIs against network topologies, write and test applications.
At the upcoming Cisco Live event in San Diego DevNet will be there with the DevNet Zone offering classes, theatre sessions, workshops, and of course, learning labs. In the workshops and learning labs developers can do hands on activities, and there will be technical staff on hand to assist and answer questions.
