For registering the plugin the default url does not work but if you select "Enter Plugin URL" and then type in "https://communities.cisco.com/servlet/JiveServlet/download/36989-2-55056/ucs-vcplugin-0.9.2.zip" it works fine.

Thanks Amitrajit for the catch. We have moved away from CDN. So the URL need to be modified within the registration tool.

Also I'm running it on Esxi5.5 and UCSM 2.1(3a) without issues.

hello, how did you get it to run ? I allways get an error that vSphere PowerCLI 5.1 must be installed. Version 5.5.0 is installed and i set the restrictions in PowerCLI to unresticted.

after deinstalling PowerCLI 5.5 and installing v5.1 i did get it to run and register the PlugIn....

Yeah, I' had to do the same thing.

Is this plug-in only compatible with the 5.1 vCenter web client?  I am running 5.5 in the lab and was able to successfully register the plug-in, but it is not popping up in the Administration view.

I was able to run it on ESXi 5.5 and UCSM 2.1(3a) without issues. After installing it, had to wait for a few minutes then logged out and logged back in. Then it popped up.

Still not seeing it a day later.  I am running ESXi 5.5, vSphere Web Client 5.5.0 Build 1369380, UCSM 2.1(3a).  I have restarted the vCenter server service and the Web Client service.  I did do the install using an HTTP server, so made the appropriate change to webclient.properties, adding allowHttp=true. I received a success message on the install, and can see the plugin under "Manage Plugins" in the Windows vSphere Client.

OK that step is different since I just used the CDN URL directly, but not sure if that makes any difference.

Hi,

the environment I am trying to deploy the plug-in into does not have a internet access and does not sport either a free to use IIS server.

is there a way around using a web url to deploy the plug-in? the file is here on my disk? why would I need a IIS server to deploy a file I really don't get this... am I missing something?

thanks for any help.

Hi Stephane,

The web client plugin registers the plugin url. The actual files gets downloaded only when the web client gets launched. The server checks the files on the server if files does not exist, then it downloads the files from http(s) server.

You may try directly unzipping the files in following directory:

<Web client dir>\plugin-packages

Eg. C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\vSphere Web Client\plugin-packages

Create a folder ucs-vcplugin and unzip the plugin file.

You should now have the following directory structure in the VMware vSphere client directory:

plugin-packages/

     ucs-vcplugin/

            plugin-package.xml

            plugins/

Then restart the vsphere web-client service.

This should work.

Regards,

Vaibhav

Thanks that did the trick

I would never have found this out.

Thanks a gain.

Hi,

OK plugin install and working.

Now If I try to register one of my six domain I get this error:

ucs error.jpg.png

Now UCS port 443 is open and responding to telnet from my WS.

anything I am missing? Would it be because my ucs domain are already ergistered with ucs Central?

Thanks

Stephane.
