Installation Prerequisites

Before installing UCSPE, do the following:
Ensure that the target system meets the following requirements:

  • 1 GB free RAM
  • 8 GB disk space
  • 1.8 GHz single CPU

Install one of the following VMware products; the UCSPE virtual machine can execute on:

  • VMware Player
  • VMware Workstation on Windows XP
  • VMware Fusion on Mac OS X
  • VMware ESX hypervisor (use the VMware vCenter Converter tool to perform physical to virtual machine conversions)

Next:

  • Install Firefox (or any Mozilla compatible browser). This is the required browser for connecting to UCSPE.
  • Install Java Runtime Environment 1.6 to use the UCS Manager GUI.
  • For Windows, it is standard practice to create a folder on the C drive, typically named "VMs," under which to unzip and store UCSPE file and executables.

The following terms of this Agreement govern User's access and use of the Unified Computing (UCS) Platform Emulator.  

The UCS Platform Emulator (UCSPE) is a Cisco UCS tool that enables the use of Cisco UCS Manager and the UCS XML API without requiring physical hardware. The UCSPE provides Users with a controlled environment to learn, test and integrate with the UCS XML APIs, invoke UCS GUI and model object browser, identify hardware inventory and provide emulation of a large scale UCS environment, all for internal use only with no sublicense rights (the "Purpose"). It is licensed to Users royalty free to allow Users to implement the Purpose.

No Warranty.THE USCPE IS PROVIDED  "AS IS", WITHOUT ANY WARRANTIES OR REPRESENTATIONS EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, WARRANTIES OF QUALITY, PERFORMANCE, NONINFRINGEMENT, MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.

Limitation of Liability.  IN NO EVENT SHALL CISCO OR ITS SUPPLIERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, LOST PROFITS, LOSS OF USE, LOST DATA, OR ANY OTHER INDIRECT DAMAGES EVEN IF CISCO OR ITS SUPPLIERS HAVE BEEN INFORMED OF THE POSSIBILITY THEREOF. NOTWITHSTANDING ANYTHING ELSE HEREIN, ALL LIABILITY OF CISCO AND ITS SUPPLIERS UNDER THIS AGREEMENT OR OTHERWISE FOR ALL CAUSES OF ACTION SHALL BE LIMITED TO FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($5,000).

No Modifications or Distribution to Third Parties.  Users may not distribute, sublicense, modify, reverse engineer, decompile, decrypt, disassemble or otherwise reduce the USCPE to human-readable form, except to the extent otherwise expressly permitted under applicable law notwithstanding this restriction.
