I have seen Cisco marketing material that illustrate how many SIP sessions in CUBE a 28xx and 38xx router will support.  However, in talking to providers (for example Verizon) they claim these numbers are much greater than what is reality in testing.  Is there a document that provides guidlines for what size router we should purchase for X number of SIP sessions in CUBE?

Thanks,

Ken

Our numbers reflect CUBE sessions only (i.e. router is dedicated) @ NTE 75% CPU. Others include MTP sessions collocated with CUBE (which halves the numbers) and use different CPU headroom figures based on their own deployment policies. Another significant variable is VAD on/off. The only external (Cisco.com) numbers for CUBE available today is in the Q&A, but those are a bit outdated. We're busy refreshing the collateral and the new docs should be posted by Oct. Until then, weencourage customers to work with their account teams, who can work with us. We have very detailed internal information available for any number of deployment scenarios.

I was interrupted a couple of times and didn't get to hear/see the entire presentation.  Will there be a recording and/or slide deck posted for this presentation?

Aside from PSTN access, do you see a move towards using SIP trunks to replace the gatekeeper functionality in connecting multiple CUCM cluster environments? I believe there have been talks revolving using the new SIP proxy server (CUSP) for this.

thanks

A SIP proxy (such as CUSP) can fulfil this role in terms of policy-based call routing today, but it does not provide CAC (this is on the roadmap). Other SIP proxies/redirect servers may do both. There is also the large enterprise architectural move towards a Session Manager which provides this function (no endpoint mgmt, but policy-based routing, central dial plan management, Web 2.0 application interaction, interconnection between CUCM clusters and IP-PBXs etc.) that is busy evolving in VTG (in response to competitive pressure by Covergence, most recently acuired by Acme Packet).

I will be doing my first SIP Trunking based Project in Africa , let see what will be the result . on theory everything seems okk .

Hey - good luck!

Hi there!

Thanks for asking. Much of the content you are looking for is listed in the community post here. Be sure to read the comments, I've posted what slides were available from the May workshop and included links to the shownotes from the broadcast, as well as links to the replay of both the workshop and the broadcast (different content in each).

Hope this helps!
