Windows 7 Support

I'm curious how many of you are considering moving to Windows 7 and if you have considered how it will affect things like CUPC,CIPC or CAD or done any testing.

It doesn't appear that Cisco has posted a Windows 7 support page like they have for Vista (yet) - which is somewhat surprising since with my customers we're seeing a much higher adoption rate for Windows 7 (customers ready to move once its available) vs when Vista came out and everyone was waiting to see how bad it would be.

Thats not true...you can have your IPC up and running and at the sme time utilize your desk phone or the 7921 wireless.  I keep my IPC running alot in the back groud but actually use my desk phone.  When I get lazy I then use my IPC.  You can have 10 phones set up with the same extenion and use anyone you want.  You can even dial your own extension form your extension and answer one of the other phones.  It's al good.

See you realy don't have to do anything.

How do you get the VT Advantage drivers to install with x64?

I receive a "DIFXAPP: ERROR - You need to use the 64-bit version of DIFXAPP.DLL to install drivers on this machine"  in the log file.

Video advantage installation works fine but as already pointed out, no luck with CDP.

You dont CDP ony works with x32

I assumed because you were using Video Advantage with IPC with Windows 7 x64 that you had managed to install the VT Advantage drivers so that the cameras were usable. Unless I'm misunderstanding the purpose of Video Advantage software (which intalls with no problems in Win7 x64), there's no point using it without the cameras?

Are you able to install the drivers for Cisco VT Camera in Windows 7 x64. I don't seem to be able to do it.

What I can't understand is these are Logitech cameras OEM manufactured for Cisco and Logitech has drivers for similar models published. How difficult is to just takes these drivers and make it available for us.

Apparently, it seems to be very difficult.

Is there any software engineer out there who can take those Logitech drivers and make it work for the Cisco VT Camera's? If we keep waiting for Cisco, it will not be before the next version of Microsoft OS release.

Just found a nice how to for installing the drivers for VT camera on Windows 7 64-bit:

1)  Download the latest driver from Logitech's website for Vista x64 for the QCP 5000.

2)  From a non-Windows 7 PC (or from XP Mode), run the installer.  Let it extract all of the files, and DO NOT PROCEED through the installation process (or if it errors, keep the error message open).  Go to the Temp folder where the files were extracted (in my case, in XP Mode, it was C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Local Settings\Temp\QuickCam_11.1.0)  COPY (don't Move) this folder to a location that's accessible to your Windows 7 system.

3a)  For Cisco VT users, go into the \QuickCam_11.1.0\Drivers\x64\PRO464 folder and edit the lPRO464v.inf file.  Do a find-and-replace, finding 08C5 and replacing it with 08C7 (this essentially makes the inf file identify your Cisco VT device ID as a QCP 5000).  Save and close the inf file.

3b)  Go into Devices and Printers.  Go into the properties for the USB Composite Device, find the Unknown Composite Device, and update the driver.  Select to manually specify the driver location.  Point it to the \QuickCam_11.1.0\Drivers\x64\PRO464 folder, and you should be all set.

Thanks, I found the same information too, but it didn't work for me. I realized that my PID is different (08B6) and when I made some changes, my camera finally worked;

1) Downloaded QuickCam 10.5 for Vista x64.

3a) Here, after locating the folder, you have two folders, PRO64 and PRO364 but you have tu use "...Drivers\x64\PRO64" and edit the lPRO64v.inf file. Do a find-and-replace, finding 08B2 and replacing it with 08B6 (this file you identify your Cisco VT device ID as a QCP 4000).  Save and close the inf file.

3b)  Go into Devices and Printers.  Go into the properties for the USB Composite Device, find the Unknown Composite Device, and update the driver.  Select to manually specify the driver location.  Point it to the \Drivers\x64\PRO64 folder, and you should be all set.

The logitech Pro4000 QuickCam 10.5 x64 suggestion works for me.

It works. I have Win 7 32 bit and have downloaded "QuickCam® Pro 4000" Vista drivers from Logitech, followed the instructions (although in my case the path is "C:\Program Files\Logitech\QuickCamWebInstall\Drivers\x32\PRO" and edited all the .inf files (08CE with 08C7) just to be sure

Is there a replacement application for this product then?

We use this app in our env and began rolling out w7 x64 as soon as it RTM'ed. Every product we use is supported or has a supported version of the software for W7 and 08 R2, except for Cisco and Oracle. Oracle's problem is there web-based product just doesnt work with IE8, it's nothing directly related to W7.

I notice for Video Advantage the statement "No plans to support on Windows 7" is noted. Why would that be? is Video advantage being EOLed?

I checked the link out you posted and it's not clear if CUCM 7.1(5) Administration is supported by IE8. Is that notated somewhere else?

also, is Unity Connection 7.1 Admin supported by IE8?

UCCX 7.x Admin supported by IE8?

I'm not sure if it matters that the customer is running Windows 7 Pro 32-bit, but I'm assuming they are forced to run IE8 on that OS.
