Active Advisor - No devices found

Hi Team,

I've just installed the Active Advisor Application for APIC-EM 1.4 Beta and though there are 7 devices in my Device Inventory nothing shows up in the new module. Re-discovering the devices won't make them appear in the module either.

Is this a known problem?

Regards,

Ah, I figured it out. Though I used my Cisco account to login into www.ciscoactiveadvisor.com in APIC-EM, I've never logged into www.ciscoactiveadvisor.com. When accessing the website I had to confirm my name etc. and after that things started working like a charm..

can you ping www.ciscoactiveadvisor.com from your APIC-EM?

also, have you registered to set up an ActiveAdvisor account (on the link above)?

Hi,

I have the same problem.

From cli on the apic-em host i'm able to ping www.ciscoactiveadvisor.com and for the account i'm using i have setup ActiveAdvisor and even added a few devices via the desktop tool.

The beta version can take 24 hours to populate (as it is careful not to overload backend API call rates).

Mine took nearly 24 hours for 20 devices.

I have 136 devices discovered but it's been installed since 31 March.

I updated the app to 1.4.0.142 now. Lets see if this is able to fetch some info.

Hi Haavard,

were you able to see your devices?

I did find the upgrade was not smooth.  I needed to stop the old version and start the new version.

It is working well now.

Adam

Hi Adam,

I'm still getting No devices found. Please discover devices and check again" when i open Active Advisor.

I also found that i had to stop the old and start the new application.

Hi Haavard,

are you saying there are still no devices  It can take a few days (worst case) to sync.

Maybe ping me your cco id offlne and i will get engineering to take a closer look?

Hi Adam.

Yes there is still no devices. I tried to stop and start the CAA application before the weekend in case there was some problem with the application. This did not help since it is still saying no devices.

I don't have any offline ways of pinging you.

you can e-mail me -at-cisco.com.

Hi Haavard,

It appears you a running an older version of APIC-EM (1.3.1.9).

This version does not support CAA correctly (We should not let you install CAA on older controllers).

Is this the case?

Regards,

Adam

Hi Adam,

I’m actually running this:

APIC-EM Version 1.4.0.1959

I will start the upgrade to 1.4.1.1159 to see if this changes the support.

Hi Adam,

The CAA app is working after I upgraded to 1.4.1.1159.

Thank you for your help.

Excellent.  Thanks for the feedback.

Adam
