Has anyone successfully used the "Add VM vNICs" task to assign IPs?

I'm trying to specifically assign portgroup's and IPs to some VMs and at first glance, this task should do exactly what I need. I am replacing the existing NIC, assigning a portgroup, and trying to set the IP, subnet and gateway. The replacement and portgroup assignment is working fine, but the IP info is not being set. The UCSD logs show no problems, and it thinks everything succeeded, but I get NICs with no IPs. This is happening with Windows and Linux. Has anyone used this Task with success, or knows a different way to accomplish this?

Thanks,

Bret

Setting the ip is a os function

So what do all of those settings in the task actually do? Should they just be ignored?

The description of the task does not mention changing the IP

I see in the task there is IP info but is not mandatory(red star).

If you can I would open up a TAC case please.

Again the task would have to figure out what OS it is dealing with (Windows/Linux) and decide how to add the IP with in the OS.
