E-SRST vs SRST

I would like to understand when you would use E-SRST as opposed to SRST.  What are these scenarios?

just one question.

When the WAN link is down and I have E-SRST in use, the feature likes HuntGroup will be propagate to the E-SRST router via UMG.

What happens when the WAN Link is up?

Do the E-SRST router propagate the actual status back via the UMG to the CUCM?

Are the users which are logged in in the Hunt Group (during the WAN Link Down period) also logged in after the WAN Link is up?

No, the actual or hunt group status is not propagated back.

What happen with the User who is logged in in the "E-SRST" Mode Hunt Group and the WAN link is coming up?

Does he has to logged in again in the CUCM Hunt Group?

Does he get an information that he has to logged in again?

Does everybody from the Hunt Group get the information to logged in again?

Hi Jose,

The IOS router does not exchange hunt-group logged in information with CUCM. The answer in this scenario would be same with or without SRST/E-SRST. The phone will stay on the SRST router as long as there is an active call.

When the phone unregisters and reregisters for any reason - my understanding is that all the phone state is cleared out of CUCM, and thus it will log out of the hunt group.

It would be better to clarify this with another technical expert. The support community might be a better choice to post follow up technical questions.

Actually CCME isn’t being positioned for call control anymore. Cisco recommendation is to lead with BE 3K/5K/6K solutions depending on user count. Then you have the “enterprise” class CUCM code on C200/C210 for larger deployments

UCS is the preferred strategy since Cisco makes the HW, supports virtualization and other benefits of UCS architecture(too many to summarize). MCS are OEM HW and cannot support virtualization and roadmap is shaky at best.

In your case since you have multiple sites I would suggest leading with the BE solutions

Absolutely. You have two options BE 5K or BE 6K. BE 5k runs on a 7828 MCS server. It only supports two applications co resident CUCM/Uconn. From a price stand point while it is slightly cheaper than a 6K, the 6k makes more sense if more applications such as CUP, UCCX etc will be considered since it runs on a C200 and can support 4 applications

While there is another solution 3k that runs on a 7890 appliance, it is targeted at less than 300 phones, no SRST support, it doesn’t have E-SRST support either and supports a selected models of phones and gateways (no 7900 series support)

Hence I would look at either 5K or 6K for this solution. Search for the community to see many links on BE solutions

I think you will find that once you go to a BE6k and add more than two apps then the price is comparable to just installed CUCM/CCX/CUP/and Unity Connection on a UCS-C210M2; add a second one for HA failover.  Set both in a cluster so that you can offload call processing to both.

Then, at your remote sites add SRST so if they can't connect back to the main office they can still call out locally via a SIP trunk, PRI, or FXO.

It depends I have priced both ways BE6K is also eligible for CB. BE6K is more aggressively priced and of course C200 is more cheaper than a C210…

CUCM additional node licenses are included at no cost. Uconn HA is the same thing. CUP additional node licenses are free of charge. There is a SKU to add it. UCCX is the only product that requires a HA license

I understand the part of the CUCM and other IPT applications. What about the VMware ESXi standard server and vSphere software, do I need to double that?
