HSRP Behavior for 2 x L2OUT Cisco ACI

Hi Guys,

I have 2 x L2OUTs created between Cisco ACI and Cisco 6509 switches. The topology is like below

Cisco ACI Fabric---Leaf 1 & 2 ------ Classical Ethernet Switch 01

                         ---Leaf 3 & 4-------Classical Ethernet Switch02

Leaf 1&2 have VPC configured with Switch01 and same is the case with Leaf 3&4 and Switch02.

I intend to create 2 x L2out. However there are VLANs configured on Switch01 & 02 with HSRP.

The gateway will be configured on Switch01 & 02 for sometime and I am migrating few servers in ACI Fabric. How do I configure this HSRP in Cisco ACI via L2out.

In your example you don't need to configure HSRP on ACI. As you migrate servers to ACI, they will consume the GW from the HSRP on the 6509. The other thing you need to keep in mind is that you will need to create not 2XL2OUTs, you will create an L2OUT for every vlan that is extended from the 6509 to ACI

For this to work the only thing you need is lo enable ARP Flooding on the BD, and you need to have 1 EPG per BD.

HSRP on ACI is configured on L3OUT, but it's for very specific corners cases, ACI usually doesn't need HSRP because it uses a Pervasive SVI
