I have tried multiple times to upgrade my CBD server to the 2.7.1 release from version 2.6.0.20230321. It fails every time and leaves it in an unusable state. It will go through the entire process with success messages and ultimately fail with the following message. See also attached screenshot.

I run CBD, too. I’m not sure why I still do it, but I do. I’m currently at v2.7.1.20240130. I haven’t experienced any upgrade issues. However, I regularly upgrade Ubuntu, too. Maybe you need to upgrade Ubuntu first.

Could you please try "sudo apt-get install ca-certificates" before running the CBD installer?
