Could you tell us a little about yourself?
I'm Jonas, born and raised in Petrópolis- RJ. I came from a humble family, with 7 brothers, a lot of people at home. I am married, and I have 2 children, who are my base for everything.
Throughout my career I had this desire to win, I didn't know where I would end up, but I always wanted to achieve something meaningful. That's what being a VIP is: something big, not just for me but my whole family.
It was really cool to receive this recognition, which came from the area I decided to specialize in: IT.
Could you talk about your professional career?
I currently work as a Network Architect in a global position at Logicalis. My journey started about 13-15 years ago, and things have changed significantly. I started as a professional course instructor and evolved in the area: I entered the Microsoft product area, where I began to delve deeper into networks. In 2013, I had my first opportunity in a multinational company. I took some certifications like CCNA – which was an incredible experience.
Within this area was where I had the opportunity to grow. Of course, I constantly improved myself and studied to evolve to be where I am – it was a journey from analyst to engineer and reaching this current position.
In this position, I do a lot of hands-on, implementing services and understanding the new features that exist in the products to show to customers.
All of this happened because I was never afraid to face challenges, they don't intimidate me.
How did you get involved in the Cisco Community?
I met through Tomy Tim, another Cisco Community VIP. He made this presentation, and it all started like this: I wrote my first article, which is now part of my daily life.
What inspires you to create technical content?
One thing that I find interesting to bring up is that people often think I only create content to be recognized as a VIP, for example, but that's not true. My biggest inspiration is being able to share content and my knowledge for free, mainly for those who need access to training and content in paid ways. I've been through this and want to do something to make my knowledge available.
How do you find time? You are very generous with your time. Could you let me know why you did that?
Time is challenging for everyone, but everyone has 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. I usually plan and dedicate a time scheduled for that creation. It's a question of knowing how to manage time, and I often stop doing something that would be less productive to dedicate time to this priority. The Cisco Community, along with professional and personal activities, is one of my priorities right now.
Could you tell us briefly about your path to becoming a VIP and how this experience has been for you so far?
When I started, I didn't think about being a VIP, but along the way, I saw that this could really happen. When I realized it was possible, I dedicated myself even more. For me, it has been gratifying. People arrive with curiosity, allowing you to expand your network and add more value to my content. The VIP badge also helped people come to me to understand how the process worked.
Other than that, the happiness and gratitude for the people who are with me every day, supporting me and helping me get to where I am now, has been an excellent experience.
