Ive been asked to start morning checks. I'm looking to use rttest on the router to see the process and opctest status on the PG to sync as well as normal cpu, memory etc. Is there anything else people monitor, recommend?

Thanks

Hi,

If you have PCCE cceadmin (SPOG) will tell you everything. For UCCE we can check few additional checks

  1. ICM Router RTTEST / OPCTEST from PG’s
  2. Diagnostic Framework Portico for all the ICM process for Router, Logger, PG and AW ( Router,PG, PIM and Dialer,CTI server etc..)
  3. Event viewer logs for system & applications
  4. Open ICMDBA – check DB size & Space used summary for Logger & HDS Database
  5. Use dumplog utility to verify logs

This is an excellent list and it's the basics. If you're getting into this kind of business I recommend you setup real monitoring because you'll then get a baseline and trends.

In addition to monitoring and system checks there's a thing here you can use to perform ongoing periodic test calls into CVP to keep things alive and responsive.   It can help if you're one of those people that experiences first call of day timeouts etc due to backend integrations going to sleep during low/no traffic periods.

You'll also want to make sure the SQL purge jobs ran... one little change by someone can screw those up
