Hello Experts,
I have a question from a DevNet user/customer on an open Ticket #2504. Customer is using Prime Infrastructure 3.2. Customer asks:
Around 5000 APs I have on a project and it needs to be configured ASAP. That's what every customer wants, of course. All APs should be in FlexConnect mode, which means I need to:
- change AP name
- change AP mode from local to FlexConnect mode
- put AP in appropriate FlexConnect group
- put AP in appropriate AP group
Thank you!

Hi Matthew,
Got some options for you:
Prime infrastructure has a built in function to make bulk changes on Lightweight APs
Found in the gui under:
Configuration / Templates / Lightweight Access Points / New Lightweight AP Template
(PI 3.4)
You choose APs to be changed from site map grouping or manually from a list.
You can change all above things you are requesting, but there is not a intelligent way to change the AP names with this function without ending up with all the Aps having the same name.
The above function or similar can also be reach through the prime APIs.
The APIs avalible and some basic guides can be found on your customers prime installation version, under:
https://YOUR-PRIME-IP/webacs/api/v4/
More information about prime APIs:
https://developer.cisco.com/site/prime-infrastructure/
Cisco devnet:
https://communities.cisco.com/community/developer/prime-infrastructure
Or if it is a one shot change you can also accomplish the above changes requested through prepering cli commands.
using excel for example. then pasting them to CLI
config ap name NEW-NAME OLD-AP-NAME or Ethernet MAC or SerialNumber
*AP-names are case sensitive
Best Regards
Kristoffer
