What do we do between now and the release of N1Kv "essentials" ?

The free N1Kv "essentials" (https://communities.cisco.com/docs/DOC-31313) coming in early 2013 is great, but it's causing a big headache for my company (we're a reseller). Customers naturally want the free version right now, and we don't know what to tell them.

is it possible to lengthen the current N1Kv trial licenses from 60 to 180 days?

Thanks

-Craig

Craig,

Please see the information in this blog for details of the Freemium migration:http://blogs.cisco.com/datacenter/new-nexus-1000v-free-mium-pricing-model/

If your customers need to extend their demo's that's not a problem.  You'll need to open TAC case, provide the Host ID and they'll extend the trial license as required.

Robert

Correct.  IThe new version of N1K with the different feature options essentials vs. advanced was released last week.

What happened to the beta!?

It also looks like the recent 4.2(1)SV1(5.2) release increased the trial license from 60 to 240 days, which is exactly what I was hoping for. So for customers not comfortable with 2.1, they can stick with 1.5 and plan an upgrade six months out (with TAC as a last resort if the upgrade isn't possible).

Great work guys!

Beta was short & sweet.

Appreciate the feedback on the licensing improvements Craig.
