Hi Team,

Are ESA virtual appliances supported on HXAF240 ?

Is there any documentation or list about Hardware compatibilities for ESA virtual appliances ?

Thanks in Advance

The support statement is "UCS hardware",.so you're fine.

But I've been running VMs since the first beta, and we started on Dell, and I've never seen an issue where the underlying hardware mattered.

Your hypervisor does matter...

Hi,

The Cisco UCS servers (blade or rack-mounted) are the only supported hardware platform.
Please find below the document for the same:
https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/security/content_security/virtual_appliances/Cisco_Content_Security_Virtual_Appliance_Install_Guide.pdf

Hence, you should be able to configure virtual ESA on HXAF240.

Pratham

Thanks Pratham,

Finally in the installation guide:

"Other hardware platforms are supported on a “Best Effort” basis: we will try to help you, but it may not be possible to reproduce all problems, and we cannot guarantee a solution."

The solution is supported but in some cases the TAC will not be able to reproduce the hardware scenarios.

In this condition, I suppose the Hyperflex hardware could be supported.

Hyperflex/HX uses UCS hardware.

So yes, its supported.

They just aren't going to keep a stack of Dell/HP/Lenovo/SuperMicro/whatever servers around on the chance that you're encountering a hardware issue.
