FireAMP logging - excessive, or actual problem?

Hi,

I've recently had Sourcefire FireAMP connector installed on my Windows 10 PC, and have been curious if it has anything to do with a feeling of lag/slowdown I've had.

One thing I've noticed, is the log at "C:\Program Files\Sourcefire\fireAMP\4.4.2\sfc.exe.log" is constantly logging "errors", like the below few minutes worth.  I just wanted to check if these are "normal" operation?

Hi Ryan,

those error messages are 'normal' happening when amp connector cannot reach the AMP cloud to perform lookup queries.

Regarding the slowness on WIN10 I would suggest you to upgrade to latest available version 5.0.5 and if the situation doesn't improve try to double check exclusions.

Thanks for the tips.

Upgraded to v5.0.5 and have given it a couple of days to see how it's going.  ~200MB of log files in that time alone.

Logs are still getting filled up fast, but now the messages are all quite different - perhaps a syntax change in the new major version?  In 8 hours, there have been about 375,000 lines written to the log, an excerpt below gives a general overview of the types of messages.  Any thoughts on this now?

Hi Ryan,

Sorry for the inconvenience but those errors are safe to ignore. The log files itself will be limited at 50MB and we will keep up to ten of those files. Logging itself was introduced due to new features that were enabled in 5.0.x version and we will be removing those excessive log informations in 5.1.x release.
