Deprecated Endpoints

As of Cisco Unified Communications Manager Firmware Release 11.5, the following phones are not supported:

  • Cisco IP Phone 12 SP+ and related models

  • Cisco IP Phone 30 VIP and related models

  • Cisco Unified IP Phone 7902

  • Cisco Unified IP Phone 7905

  • Cisco Unified IP Phone 7910

  • Cisco Unified IP Phone 7910SW

  • Cisco Unified IP Phone 7912

  • Cisco Unified Wireless IP Phone 7920

  • Cisco Unified IP Conference Station 7935

If you use any of these phone models on an older release of Cisco Unified Communications Manager and you upgrade to Release 11.5, the phone will not work after the upgrade completes.

I'm just downloading a ISR 44xx IOS image, and that's taking it's time too. I wonder if Cisco have been paying their CDN bill?

(Where do you report this kind of issue to?)

Hi Manish I face same problem, customer has 12 7912, what you mean " not work" you mean these 7912 can't register to new 1151U1 CUCM?totally don't work? we must replace new phone with these 7912? is there any (hidden) method CUCM V1151 can support 7912 and continue to work for some time? thank you! Tom

Hi Tom,

That is correct, these models which are deprecated can not be registered with CUCM 11.5. However, 7912 does support SIP so you may try adding it as a third part SIP device on cucm but it may not guarantee all the features that you would like to have as in a supported endpoint.

Hello Manish,

My UCM 9.1.2 sever has over 400 Cisco 7912 phones.

How can I do in order to upgrade? Does the CUCM 11 support the Cisco 7912?

Hi Claudio,

No, these phones won't work with CUCM 11.5 or higher.

Manish

Then I think that is definitely not supported, and not going to work, the documentation clearly explains that device model will no longer be supported on 11.5 so that I need to plan ahead of time and replace them.

I understand, but there is no point is upgrading to a 10.x or 11.0 version, you should talk to your local Cisco Account team to see what is the best option for you.

Thanks for the post !! btw, has anybody tested 7912 with SIP firmware in CUCM 11.5 ?

best !

Hi Vladimiro,

7912G can be added to CUCM 11.5 as a third party SIP device and it will work fine like any other third party SIP endpoints, this is the only way you can use those 7912's with CUCM 11.5 or higher. if you have a bunch of those then i would suggest registering a couple of them to carry out testing different features and services before doing the same with rest of the 7912's.

Thanks Manish !!

Hi everyone,
What about Cisco 7911, 7921, 7937, 7942, 7945, 7975? are they still supported on Cisco 11.5 ? Please I need to be sure.
Thanks in advance.

Anything that is not mentioned as a deprecated model in the RN, is still supported.

What does this mean? They aren't specific models so I wasn't sure?? Is the 7975/7965 still covered? Is there a site I can view that shows models and what version of CUCM they are compatible with?
- Cisco IP Phone 12 SP+ and related models
- Cisco IP Phone 30 VIP and related models

As explained in the thread, the RN for 11.5 and 12.0 outline which models have been deprecated in each release, anything NOT MENTIONED as deprecated, is still available in the drop-down.

No, there is no webpage that tells you what phone models are supported per CUCM release as that might change depending on the specific DevPack/SU you run.

Thank you for the information.  We are on CM 10.5.1 with 1000 7942's and approximately 200 7975/7965's.  Would you please let me know what the average life cycle of a Cisco VOIP phone is?  Should we be looking to replace these every 5 or every 10 years?  How many versions of Call Manager are released each year?  How long do they normally support devices?
