how to get SIP trunk status in IOS gateway

I have an old CUCM version 8.6.  The SIP trunk is peering with a Cisco IOS gateway. 

in old version of CUCM, the SIP trunk does not show it's up or not.  (Option PING is enabled in SIP profile).

so in IOS gateway, how do we know the SIP trunk is good?

If you have a single SIP trunk between IOS gateway and CUCM then really it doesn't matter what the status is, because you would have no second dial-peer to fail over to.

but you can put OOB options ping on dial peers as well.

Use OOB options ping on each of your dial peers like so:

 voice-class sip options-keepalive

to check issue: show dial-peer voice summary
