There is static on the phone, while the phone is still ringing. What I noticed after the call is established, the codec is G729. The call is to an external number, and it should be G711. Phones which uses G711, do not have any static.
Is it because of the codec or something else. I have already changed the switch port, reset and rebooted the phone several time.
Thanks

Hi
If G.711 helps then check the Region settings of the Phone and the gateway and see what is the Relationship between them. The call leg on the VOIP side should be G.711
Also you can upgrade the firmware to see if it makes any difference.

Hi,
You're saying that while the phone is ringing you hear static noise aside from the ring tone? In this point, the codec negotiation hasn't yet started. Is this happening to all IP Phones?
What is the call flow and the devices used?

Its not impacting all phones, it seems sporadic. I've tried other phones in the area (connected to the same switch/ IDF) and they seems to be fine.

Do you have a hardware transcoder? If so, see if your transcoding between g711 and g729 and if there are dsp errors.
