Team,

We have been locked out of our ISE system suspecting CSCvs87754.

We need to unlock this as the password we have used for GUI and for CLI is not working.

Trying to do the boot method, but the since it is hosted on a VMware ESXI, if we take a snapshot backup of the system and when we restored will the data be intact or will the data get corrupted.

Kindly assist.

Regards,

Ronald

As you're unable to unlock the system using the password for both GUI and CLI access, you're considering using the boot method. However, since your ISE system is hosted on VMware ESXi, you're concerned about the integrity of the data if you take a snapshot backup and then restore it.

Taking a snapshot backup of your ISE system on VMware ESXi should preserve the data and configuration of the system. When you restore the snapshot, it should revert the system to the state it was in when the snapshot was taken, including all data and configurations. However, it's essential to ensure that the snapshot is taken properly and that there are no issues during the restoration process to avoid any potential data corruption.

Before proceeding with the snapshot backup and restoration, it's advisable to consult VMware ESXi documentation or seek assistance from your IT team to ensure that the process is carried out correctly and that appropriate backups are in place to safeguard your data.

Hi, but you can recover your password with needing a config backup (until you hit a worst case scenario) Perform Password Recovery for ISE Command Line Interface (CLI) - Cisco
