Peer ADM Persona on Hardware and VM

Has anyone successfully deployed, or found documentation on, peering and Primary/Secondary Admin Persona's with one instance on hardware and the second instance running as a virtual machine?  I am performing research to determine the viability of migrating from an virtual only environment to a a mixed hardware/VM environment.

The rule of thumb has been that the Admin/MnT Persona's get the same hardware, or the same virtual machine requirements.  But how does that look in a brownfield migration?

For your second instance (VM) allocate (and reserve) the hardware on your host for the ISE VM.
