I am currently in the process of trying to upgrade the IOS of a ISR 4331 currently running the following:
Cisco IOS XE Software, Version 03.13.04.S - Extended Support Release
Cisco IOS Software, ISR Software (X86_64_LINUX_IOSD-UNIVERSALK9-M), Version 15.4(3)S4, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc3)
I was under the impression that due to the version I'm trying to get install that i would need to upgrade the ROMMON beforehand with say this pkg. - isr4300-rommon.162-1r.pkg
I have then followed the following:
Pre Check-
RTR-01#show rom-monitor r0
System Bootstrap, Version 15.4(3r)S5, RELEASE SOFTWARE
Copyright (c) 1994-2015 by cisco Systems, Inc.
RTR-01#upgrade rom-monitor filename bootflash:isr4300-rommon.162-1r.pkg all
WR and then issued a reload
however when i run the - show rom-monitor r0 the output remains the same as above.
I have seen some posts which are quite confusing they seem to imply that if I upgrade the image to anything prior to 16.4.1 then I need to to upgrade rommon, so my question is if my target version is isr4300-universalk9.16.04.03.SPA.bin (Everest) then I dont need to take any action with a ROMMON PKG as this will be taken care of with the bin that is on or above 16.4.1?
