Are Cisco security certifications still in demand?

Is it worth climbing the Cisco ladder for security or is it worth focusing on the cloud based certifications ladders such as the AWS ? I personally am interested in pen testing.maybe forensics. And still love my hardware . But alas outdated or dead end pathways. I'm a bachelor's student still so I have time to look around

Security is always in demand in the market, also good to have other cloud certs ( they also need security )

Yes they are in demand as is expertise and certification in almost every aspect of cybersecurity. It's quite a broad field so you can follow your interests and opportunities within it.

They all start with the basics though so focus on those first - critical and analytical thinking, written and verbal communications, networking basics etc. Those will serve you well no matter what specialty you pursue.
