I don't have much experience with firewalls so I'm trying to find out how I can manage a Pix 515e via a Gui or a web front end, whilst I try and get my head around the cli.
I've seen posts about a PIX pdm but I cannot find where to download it. I'd also need some details on how to install/enable it.
some details from sh ver:

The PIX was end of life / end of support last year, So there is no support from Cisco on this product any more.
However you can download the PDM here, but you are required to have a valid Cisco support contract to be able to download it.

1 issue is that these instructions seem to be for a new device as it says run setup, which I don't want to do.
once I do this:
copy tftp://Your_TFTP_Server_IP_Address/Your_pdmfile_name flash:pdm
what would be the next step?

Try the following (where the management IP/subnet is the IP or subnet that is allowed to manage the firewall and "inside" is the interface name management traffic is entering the firewall):
http server enable
http <management IP/subet> inside
aaa authentication http console LOCAL
username cisco password cisco
