What is the state of the art in terms of rate limiting on a Fiber Internet service from a CPE & PE perspective when we perform IPoE (not PPPoE) ?
For years we have been configuring egress shaping on the WAN iface of the CPE,
Should we consider configuring something on the LAN Iface of the CPE ? At least egress shaping on LAN iface ?
What about the UNI interface of the PE, should we configure Policing or Shaping ? Are there any relationship between the requested memory allocation in case we want to perform some shaping instead of policing and the router performance capacities ?
Regarding how we should configure shaping, should we consider configuring a shape-average around 80-85% of the CIR as some advises ?
I also met some situations where the shape average value configured on the device was 10% more than the CIR subscribed by the customer, does it make sense ?
