Cisco 3850 Switch won’t boot

I have a Cisco 3850 switch that goes straight into recovery mode when I power on. I loaded the newest update but it won’t boot when powered on. It will however boot when I use “switch: boot flash:file name” Any ideas on how to get it to boot properly ?

Hi there,

If you are happy to run the switch in BUNDLE mode then set the boot var in config:

!
no boot system
boot system switch flash:<file_name>
!

Or you could attempt the installation again:

request platform software package install switch flash:<file_name>

...this will recreate the required files and packages.conf which is used for booting.

• dir flash:
