Cisco Catalyst 3850 Remotely convert stack member from install to bundle mode

Hi,

I have Catalyst 3850 stack, master in Bundle and member in install mode.

3850s-47#reload slot 2
Stack is in Half ring setup; Reloading a switch might cause stack split

how can convert switch 2 from install to bundle mode remotely to resolve the V-Mismatch issue?

Hi,

The software install command is not supported when the switch is running in bundle mode. Use the software expand privileged EXEC command to convert the switch from bundle mode to installed mode.

I went through this document already, the example of converting is from Bundle to install, I need to make the change the other way around.

can you please provide an example on how to convert a stack member from install to bundle?

Hi,

I have never done this. So, I would be carful doing this in production.

How about:

software expand file flash-2....

In this case flash-2 is for switch-2

Copy the BIN file into the switch and change the boot variable string of Switch 1 to load the BIN file only.

I couldnt do it remotely, had to go there break the stack, console in, load the bundle mode and restack it again, issue resolved, but i couldnt do it remotely without reloading the master which i cant do., thanks.

load the bundle mode ?  do u mean copy bin file to flash on switch 2 ? 

Are there 2 solutions for this ?
1 is to Convert Switch 1 from bundle to Installed mode 
2 is Convert Switch 2 from Installed to Bundle mode.
which way is better or safer or preferred ?
