Cisco switch 2960 connecting TV box with cat5

Hi,

Having problem connecting TV box (Oasis)  to a switch 2960

After connecting to any port, the port goes up and after couple of seconds goes down

I have changed duplex, speed. Still does not work

Are those TV boxes use different protocols?

I have also checked on my ASA 5505 and does not work

But after connecting same cable to the linksys WiFi router that runs thru ASA, everything works.

Any idea?

Thanks

Luke

Hello

try defaulting the interface

Default int x/x

int x/x

switchport host

no shut

end

Goes up for a few seconds?  Post the complete output to the command "sh interface status err".

I would also like to see the complete output to the command "sh interface <PORT>".

Hi!

Change the speed MAYBE the TV box accepts only one speed, i mean it is not supported auto speed, If it is giginterface change to 100, if it is fastethernet configure to speed fast 100 mbps:

interface gig x

 speed 100

inteface fa x

 speed 100

Hello,

what is the exact model ? Is that an OASIS Mediaplater ?

Cat5 is very old. Try at least Cat5e or 6...

Also, try and configure 'spanning-tree portfast' on the 2960 port...
