Cisco2960X frozen after power outage

Hello everyone,

Over the weekend we lost power to the building. For the most part all our switch stacks came back online. One stack (2960x's) has one switch that remains frozen in the stack. When consoled into the master, it shows that switch 2 is removed. All the ports show down when looking at the ip int brief for that switch. If the switch is removed from the stack, it powers up fine and works correctly. When plugged back into the stack, it freezes at the step below. The CLI is frozen at the console, and it will not go past the election complete step. I have tried swapping the stack cables and having it plug into each switch in the stack without the loop (Switch 1 into 2, switch 1 into 3, Switch 3 into 1 and Switch 1 into 3, switch 2 into 3, switch 3 into 1) with no difference. The only time the switch responds and functions correctly is when it is removed from the stack. Previously before the power outage the stack functioned fine with all the members plugged in.

Any advice would be greatly apperciated.

Both the Master and switch 3 function fine in the stack.

Hi,

Could be an issue with the stack ports. The stack ports could be damaged. I would suggest you open a TAC case and get the switch RMA

Thanks

John
