Hi Gopinath,

thanks for your response

so we need to disabled the VTP mode on core side and enable gvrp on both corr ans access swith side right ?

My configuration in core side is

switch port trunk allowed vlan all

switchport mode trunk

samein access switch switch uplink

interface vlan 1 enable gvrp

Our core is c9300 that doesnt allow fro gvrp . So vtp on core side and gvrp on access side will work ?

Hi ziyadps,

No....it doesn't work....GVRP concept is totally different compare with VTP.

Best regards

hi Gopinath,

i have tried on core swithc VTP mode server

and interface configuration switchport trunk allowed vlan 102-105

switch port mode trunk

access switch uplink

switchport trunk allowed vlan 102-105

switchport mode trunk

gvrp enabled

but host not receiving any ip and interface vlan 1 default its showing up/down status

Hi @ziyadps ,

Although I'm not an expert to provide you with an accurate solution, I have thoroughly reviewed the Cisco data sheets and understand that the access switch SGS-350 does not support VTP, and the Core switch Catalyst 9300 does not support the GVRP protocol. If you're planning to synchronize VLAN data between both switches, here's a suggested approach:

  1. Manually create VLANs on the access switch.
  2. Consider using Ansible or Python for automation.

For automation, you might find Ansible playbooks or Python scripts helpful in streamlining the VLAN configuration process. I came across a reference for automating network VLAN deployments with Ansible that you might find useful: Automating Network VLAN Deployments with Ansible (skyenet.tech)

Thank you.

I would agree on this , i would do the same thing.

How many vlans are you looking to forward over to this switch ?

3 vlan

should i up vlan manually on access switch ?

ex:

configer termina

vlan 10

vlan 20

vlan 30

Yes i would do it manually on the the switch n thats it.  Only if you add a vlan on the core in the future , you may need to add it to the access switch.

To understand more

already vlan configured in core but after enablinf trunk also access switch not receiving vlan

so if i configure access switch uplink trunk mode and with out changing vlan in core if i configure vlan interface in access switch manually what will be the impact?

The issue you are facing with VLAN is due to VTP. Since VTP is disabled in
the access switch, without it, VLAN information will not be exchanged
between core and access switch.

Trunk link helps to auto synchronize VLANs with the help of VTP default
domain, otherwise we must manually configure VLANs ,which need to be
allowed on trunk link.

To achieve that, use the below command
"switchport trunk allowed vlan *number_range*"

Yes. Create VLANs and Trunk link accordingly on access switch.
