Creating private vlan - community and Isolated

Hello there,

I have a DSL connection and it is connected to a small router that provides DHCP to clients. I was doing a lab at home and I connected one port from the small router and plugged it to a fa1/0/1 port on cisco switch 3750 and configured that port as promiscuous port. I took another port from the switch and configured it as isolated port. I plugged my laptop to the isolated port. The result was not working.

I found that the ports in the switch are up but the protocol is showing as down. I double checked the configuration and it looks as per the book. I am surprised about it. I was trying to do layer two segmentation of the ports. Can someone explain to me why the protocol on both ports shows are down.

When i put the two ports of the same switch to the same vlan. I do get IP address and I was able to browse the internet.

Thank you.

Hi,

Can you post config from the 3750?

Also, can you post the output of "sh vlan private-vlan"?
