Nexus 3064 capabilities

Hi,

I am considering deploying a number of nexus 3064 switches to act as distribution switches in a campus environment to aggregate 10G connections from the access layer. It has been suggested internally that these may not be suitable for a campus.

Can someone please clarify if or why the platform would be unsuitable for campus distribution?

One point that was mentioned was lack of IPV6 support. We presently do not use IPV6 but may do within the lifetime of the network. Can anyone tell me if this feature is on the roadmap?

Thanks,

Daniel

Nexus 3064 is a low latency solution. If your network is not low latency sensitive (like trading), I don't see any reason to use these as your aggregation layer. A better fit is teh Nexus 5596, which has 96x non-blocking 10GE port with 160G L3 switching capability. If you want to scale it bigger, your next choice is the Nexus 7000.

Sorry, I cannot discuss any roadmap here. You need to contact your Cisco account for that.
