Unsupported modulo on 4510+E

Hello,

I'm implementing a pair of 4510+E switch core, but I'm having a problem. There is a kind of module that the chassis is not recognizing (Unsupported module).

Each chassi has:

02x 8-E supervisor

02x WS-X4748-RJ45-E

02x WS-X4712-SFP-E

02x WS-X4748-12X48U+E

So I updated the last version of IOS. I just did not install the IPBASE license.

Anyone have any idea what it might be? Is there a software version restriction or something like this?

Switch#sh module all

Chassis Type : WS-C4510R+E

Power consumed by backplane : 40 Watts

Mod Ports Card Type                              Model              Serial No.

---+-----+--------------------------------------+------------------+-----------

 7     0  Unsupported module                     WS-X4748-12X48U+E

 8     0  Unsupported module                     WS-X4748-12X48U+E

Mod  Redundancy role     Operating mode      Redundancy status

----+-------------------+-------------------+----------------------------------

 5   Active Supervisor   RPR                 Active

6   Standby Supervisor  RPR                 Standby cold

Tks..!!!

The uplink needs to be 40 Gbps or the line card will not work.

What is the speed of the uplink?  It has to be 40 Gbps or it won't work.

Go HERE and it explicitely states:

  • Supported in the Catalyst 4503-E, Catalyst 4506-E, Catalyst 4507R+E, and Catalyst 4510R+E switch chassis.
  • Supported only with Supervisor Engine 7-E, Supervisor Engine 8-E, Supervisor Engine 7L-E.
  • Not supported in slot 10 in the Cisco Catalyst 4510R-E switch chassis with Supervisor Engine 8-E, when the uplink mode is 80GB, and is supported only when uplink mode is set to 40GB.
  • Can be installed on any non-supervisor chassis slot.

The uplink is 20G, by one SFP-10G-SR-S in each supervisor.
So, will l need one more SFP+ in each module?

@Leo Laohoo

One more question. Can I get to do these uplnk witch 4 twinax SFP+?

tks

Cool. Glad to hear it's working.
