Upgrade VCS 7 to 8.1

Hello,

We want to migrate our BE6K 9.1.1 to version 9.1.2 to test MRA features and VPN-less Jabber clients.

I understand that VCS needs to be migrated also from current version 7 to new one 8.1, and I have two questions about it:

- VCS Traversal calls 7.X licenses can be used to implement the new Expressway Edge? Or different licenses will be necessary?

- This upgrade requires a Release Key. How can it be obtained ?

We count also with a valid UCSS for 3 years.

Thanks!

Hi Eduardo,

If you have Smartnet for the BE6000 server, then you can get the 7.2 licenses upgraded to X8.1 by sending a request to vmvcs-sn-entry@cisco.com. See the BE6000 Ordering Guide for more details.  (www.cisco.com/web/partners/sell/technology/ipc/uc_tech_readiness.html)

Expressway is a $0 purchase (you must order it, even though it's free to get the licenses) that's available for all 9.1(2) or newer solutions.

Unless you have already purchased VCS-Expressway, purchasing Express-C and Expressway-E for $0 would be your best solution.

Regards,

Andy

Thanks.

Do you know if with Expressway, it is still necessary to acquire licenses for Non-traversal and traversal calls?

Regards,

Eduardo.

Expressway uses rich media licenses for b2b, jabber guest and MSFT interop

Jabber IMP or UC or TC endpoints registered to ucm is no charge

Thanks
