Procedure to shutdown and restart the whole UCS

MSL
Level 1
Level 1

We have planned downtime to move the UCS FIs (UCS-FI-6248UP X 2, UCS-IOM-2204XPX 2, UCS 5108 Blade Server X 12) as well the MDS switches (MDS 9148S X 2) to another Datacenter in same building. Do we get a brief steps on how to perform this activity. How can we connect to FIs, MDS switches directly from the console during the outage in case ?

First you want to power off the virtual machines on the host gracefully. Then shutdown the hypervisor/OS gracefully. Next you will power off the blades in UCSM gracefully. The Chassis, FI, IOM, Fabric Interconnect and MDS all do not have graceful shutdown, you just remove the power. Make sure you have backups of everything, including full state and config-all from UCS. I would also save the running configs from the MDS.

Here is the procedure to connect to console port, but it's pretty universal across all Cisco devices.
