UCSC-MRAID12G RAID Controller is not not detecting any hard drives.  Controller shows healthy in CIMC.  Checked all cables.

Greetings.

What drive models/PIDs are on the drives?

Confirming the SAS cable is plugged up to the modular Raid SAS connector, and not the onboard/embedded connector on the systemboard????

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/unified_computing/ucs/c/hw/C220M4/install/C220M4/raid.html#47517

Thanks,

Kirk...

Yes plugged into modular RAID.  Hard Drives are Seagate Savvio 15k.3   Part number is 58-013B-01.

Please confirm those drives are on the spec sheet at http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/products/collateral/servers-unified-computing/ucs-c-series-rack-servers/c220m4-sff-spec-sheet.pdf (starts at page 33)

The servers are tested with the listed drives, and have an internal catalog of what are supported drives, and may not detect unsupported drives.

If your drives are from the spec sheet, then we may need to look at the overall HUU version the server is running and see if the specific drive support is added at a certain HUU version.

Thanks,

Kirk...

Kirk:

I'm using UCS-HDD300GI2F105 15K SAS 300GB drives  I've tried switching out RAID card and different BIOS versions.  Are there any specific settings in the BIOS to get the RAID card to identify the drives.  RAID Card shows up in CIMC as good.... just won't detect any drives.

So those are older 6Gb SAS drives, that were common in the C210M2 era servers.

I would be helpful if you had something off the spec sheet http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/products/collateral/servers-unified-computing/ucs-c-series-rack-servers/c220m4-sff-spec-sheet.pdf to confirm the raid controller was working.

When I am back in the office on monday, I will try testing one of those drives in a M4 server with known working drives, and see what happens.

I suspect the drives aren't showing up as they are older models (and while they are on specsheet for C210M2 server) and the CIMC & or 12Gb raid controller is ignoring them.

At best, you are in uncharted/unsupported area when deviating from the specsheet.

Thanks,

Kirk
