Both is possible !

Are you using FC today ? or would this be a totally new technology for you ?

Regarding IP ? the choice is iSCSI or NFS ? smaller installations prefer iSCSI, big installations go more for NFS; and there are customers migrating slowly from classical FC to NFS.

Hello Walter,

I have the chance for of both technologys, but if for what you are stating it willl be better to configure this via IP right?

thanks!

Going with IP has the following challenges / caveats

- most likely, you have the pleasure to work closely with your network team; which isn't the case if you go with classical FC; see below !

- multipathing is different for IP than for classical FC

- HA is different as well

- many customers believe to enable jumbo frames (NFS and iSCSI) and hope to dramatically improve performance; which isn't the case.

- QoS is most likely not enabled in the datacenter !

Good luck

Walter.

Walter,

And If I go via FC? will it be better? Is there any doc/pdf about how to configure this in both ways (IP or FC)?

Thanks.
