Hi Sir / Mdm.

Good Day, does anyone knows the cons / disadvantages if the wireless ap deployed is too close to each others. as customer insisted AP deployed side-by-side to serve difference purposes. 1 AP for Guest and 1 AP for Staff.

so, i am compiling the list of the disadvantages ... apprecieate if any Guru here can share your thought or experiences.

Thanks a lot.

Hi,

When you have APs too close to each other you could experience some performance issues even if the APs are on different channels since the channel side bands could still make an impact on the other channel and create radio congestion.

That's why is recommended to have APs 25-30 feet apart !

This is old school method.

An AP can broadcast up to 16 SSIDs.

The biggest disadvantage for this kind of scheme?  COST.

In 5Ghz, not so many downsides, even if you go up to 40Mhz channel width.

How many APs did you deploy this way for 2.4Ghz? Some of the disadvantages would be:
1. Co-channel interference
2. High Channel utilization
3. Cost, AP licenses and you can accomplish this with 1 AP.
