Part number for WLC-HA

Hi,

Request your help with the part number for WLC-HA

I am using two WLC (AIR-CT5508-50-K9), which is running as independent controllers in the same datacenter. One controller has been loaded with 75 AP Licenses and other with 50 AP Licences. And a total of 125 Access point are added, to both the controllers.

Now I need to configure HA. Do I need to buy any additional license for this, and if so please help me with the part number for the same.

Thanks & Regards,

Alex George

There are different approaches to ha. In both cases when HA is enabled the wlc will move to max ap licenses. In other words a 5508 will show 500.

No need, you can make HA

Licensing for HA Pair

A HA Pair can be established between two WLCs running in these combinations:

  • One WLC has a valid AP Count license and the other WLC has a HA SKU UDI
  • Both the WLCs have a valid AP Count license
  • One WLC has an Evaluation license and the other WLC has a HA SKU UDI or Permanent license.

You can use the 5508-50 as an HA for SSO or N+1, but you need to make sure your primary controller has enough licenses to support the amount of access points that will be joining that controller.
