Hi All,

We have planned to upgrade CUCM from 8.6.2 to 9.1.2 . I hope it's L2 upgrade where we are going to switch from active to Inactive version.

Apart from that has any special care we need to take or any document which will explain the detail procedure for CUCM 9.1.2 ?

Has thery any downtime or outage will be there while upload the 9.1.2 patch in active partition ?

Thanks in Advance

Hi

You can also refer the document which is posted in the support forum by Cisco for Upgrade to 9.1.x

https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-34659

the docuemtn name is as below.

Drive_to_Nine_Direct_upgrade_virtual_versions_8.0.2-9.0.1_to_9.1.1.pdf (1.9 MB)

Refer Page 10 step 5, this is for CUCM 8.6 and above upgrade steps.

Also If you see below link

Q: Does upgrading to CUCM 9.1 involve a Refresh Upgrade (RU)?

Ans: From CUCM version 8.5 and below, we need to do a refresh upgrade, due to change the RHEL version from 4 to RHEL 5.

From 8.6 and above, its a L2 upgrade.

Also check the release notes for Importent notes.

Yes, there will be downtime involved as the upgrade would need reboots. All of it is well documented in CUCM 9.1.2 release notes guide.

Yes 8.6 to 9.1.2 is a L2 upgrade as 8.6 is already on RHEL 5. So you dont have to apply COP file during the upgrade

Apart from that has any special care we need to take or any document which will explain the detail procedure for CUCM 9.1.2 ?

Gajanan has provided the link please read through that. You will need to make sure you meet system requirements for CUCM 9 (CPU, RAM, HDD) and also plan for license migration. Again details in the link provided above.
