For its part, Cisco is making its own buildings smart today in cities worldwide. This includes instrumentation to provide knowledge of what’s really happening inside of a building. Stewart said it’s not just putting in things like air conditioning with an IP address, it’s also the ebb and flow of people going in and out of the building, the hours that they are using it and the hours that they are not, trying to micro climate different parts of buildings efficiently. He said that Cisco has done different variations of this depending on the geographical location of the office.
