Prime Collaboration Migration (PCD) with Migration Task is easiest way to get off UCM 7.1 on MCS to 10.0+ on virtual.

Unity Connection will most likely recommend their COBRAS tool for 7.1 to 10.0+ on virtual.

Note 10.0+ is not supported on MCS 7800, virtual-only.

For your UCM 10.0 already virtualized, you can just do regular UCM upgrade as long as ESXi and UCS are up to date.

As far as planning docs for the actual upgrade process go…

The “Refresh Collateral” link at refreshcollab.cisco.com has some good “overall solution” best practices, like the “Technical Docs” section at http://refreshcollab.cisco.com/webportal/58/Refresh%20Collateral#! .

PCD Admin Guide is here (11.0 but allows migration to UCM 10.x): http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/pcdadmin/11_0_1/CUCM_BK_PB6D9005_00_pcd-administration-guide-110.html

Let me verify if that link is partner-only or partner+customer. There may be a different one we’re supposed to use.

You used your CCO ID right?

Yes James,

One more question:  Is there any way to migrate the USER  only from 7.1.5 to 10.0

for example 20 sites in Cluster 1 on 7.1.5

one site like 25 user's want to move are  migrate from 7.1.5 to 10.0 is this possible ?

can we use the with help of BAT and we can work manually with route group some thing like ?

If the users are staying on the same UCM cluster you can’t. Entire UCM cluster (Pub, all Subs/other nodes) and all users on that cluster have to move together. You can’t have a 10.x Pub with 7.1 Subs, or vice versa, because there is no “intra-cluster backwards compatibility”.

If those users are moving from one UCM cluster on 7.1 to another UCM cluster on 10.5, not sure how you would do that. There are BAT and PCP to help but I don’t know if those span major release versions. I’ll let others with more expertise on administration / provisioning comment on that.

Thanks James,

They are in MPL Network

Is there any way to move from one cluster to other cluster only user's

Irfan

Irfan,

You can move users only from one system to the other, but the process will be a manual process.

You can export the end user information from your 7.1 system.  This will export all the end user information, you will then need to put the user information into the 10.x BAT XLS (copy/paste and verify column entries match).  Then you remove the users you don't want to migrate.  If there is a criteria to use (like phone prefix), sort on that column and delete those users.  After grooming the users, you can import them into the 10.x system.

You will need to be careful on the associated devices.  If you want to keep the device associations, make sure the devices a user is associated with are in the 10.x system.  I  believe that BAT will remove device associations if the specified device is not in the device list on the new system.

Thanks,
