error trying to connect to desk phone in Jabber Desktop Client MAC eDeviceRegSelectedDeviceNotFound

I have a Third Party AS-SIP Endpoint registered.

When I log into Jabber I see it as a device, but when I try to select it as my phone I get this error:

[selectDeviceImpl] - connect to device [SEPDEADBEEF0005] failed with error [eDeviceRegSelectedDeviceNotFound]

I googled but literally didn't find anything about this error except its definition in the code.  Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this issue?

I am able to make calls from the device and I see it registered properly in CUCM, however in Jabber the DeviceID field is blank. (See attached screenshot).

Jabber uses the CUCM CTI interface for remote phone control - however, CTI does not support non-Cisco devices (such as a third party SIP endpoint.)
