What type of support do we offer customers that use these APIs and applications?

Hey Marcello,

All of the Applications, SDKs, and API Toolkit that are released from a Cisco employee are eligible for support under the the normal means for creating a Service Request. All of these tools and applications are supported in a best effort support structure, which means that there is no guarantee that the API or Application you are using will function properly or that Cisco will fix the issue. Most of these scripts are Open Source scripts and Cisco will not support modified scripts even if they originated from a Cisco employee. Furthermore, no Service Request can be open with a Priority 1 or Priority 2 status that is directly affected to the Applications or APIs. Opening up high severity cases on issues that were caused by a script is allowed but the TAC engineer will troubleshoot it like any normal high severity case as not all TAC engineers have a deep understanding of the scripts that other Cisco employees created.

The ACItoolkit and Cobra SDK are both widely used platforms for building applications and are usually well kept up in terms of fixing bugs and adding more functionality. Other scripts that are created by a Cisco employee will typically be routed to the employee and internal tools will be used to track the enhancement and bug if one if found while working with these scripts.

In essence you may treat these scripts as a extension of ACI but resolution is going to be best effort. We ask that you try to get a little bit of understanding about the script you are using before using it on a production fabric or with a fabric that has any type of critical impact if improperly configured.

Thanks,

Shae Eastman - ACI TAC
