Mac table from the nexus 5000

Hi,

I have a question.

if been looking through the apic-em documentation to find if there is support for mac table of the Nexus 5500.

It seems that the mac address table of the 5500 is not collected.

It would be great to do a path trace of a client PC to a server that runs in the Datacenter.

It looks that the apic-em reads the uplinks. and the switches/routers behind the uplinks though cdp neighbours.

it also discovers the the FEX models.

Will this be added in the near future?

Thanks in advanced.

Greetings

Palermo

Hi Palermo,

Hope you are using the latest APIC EM (GA1.2) release.  What I could know from a similar question is that EasyQoS App is supported. Mean time will try to get more details.

Thanks and Regards,

Geevarghese

Hi gcheria,

Yes indeed. I'm running the latest version 1.2.0.1594

APIC-EM Version:   1.2.0.1594

Grapevine Version: 1.2.0.11539.dev555-g6906b29

I hope it helps. If you need more information please let me know

Hi Geevarghese,

I think you mean to say EasyQoS was not supported on Nexus5k.

There are some challenges with getting host information from 5k which we are looking into.

Hi Palermo,

No, it is not supported.

we are looking to add support.

Hi araford,

Ok i'm confused, I was wondering wy the mac table is not collected.

I asume (that is dangerous :-) that Path Trace uses the mac table to map and show the ingress/egress interfaces.

May be EasyQoS is part of this!?

the only information that is required from the MAC table is the mac/ip address of the host.

It is only required on the device that the host is directly connected to.

This means that you would not be able to path trace to a host IP address of a device connected to a nexus 5k (at present).

Ok,

We gonna wait for that update.

Thanks in advanced
