ISE with Dell Wyse Terminals

Hi team,

Customer is currently running an ISE PoV and have challenges around integration with Dell Wyse Z50D terminals.

Question: Do you know of any customers who have deployed the two successfully?

Background as FYI:

The Wyse terminals run SUSE Linux which have supplicant support and auth successfully when manually configured. However, the terminals use a centralised 'Wyse device manager server' and pull down an .ini config file upon bootup from this server which contain and is compatible with 802.1x settings. Issue is that the .ini file is not getting applied to the terminal and hence 802.1x doesn't get enabled. Customer has a case logged with Dell about this.

Thanks for any feedback on customers or recommendations on alternative methods.

Regards,

Arron

If access already open to allow the configuration download, then it's really needing Dell's support to see why it not getting applied properly.

Yes Hsing is correct. Please open your ACL's on the interface to allow access to Wyse device manager prior to 8021.x authentication so that the communication between the Wyse terminal to Wyse device manager is not blocked.

This will allow ini file to be sent over to the terminal successfully.

Thanks

Krishnan

Thanks Krishnan/Hsing. I had a discussion with the customer and it appears to me the dot1x dialogue from the Wyse terminal Dell Z50D (thin client running customised SUSE) to the switch 2960x works fine, however they are facing user experience issues as the user see's the 802.1x pop-up to enter credentials, twice.

We have raised a TAC case as well to get this sorted, if at all its our problem, the number is 639281759.

We have asked for Dell support to in parallel.

Is there anything that needs to be looked at?

Heya,

Do you know of any other customers who have deployed ISE and Dell WYSE terminals together?

Customer has raised a case with Dell but aren't getting much back; have asked us to contact Dell to work on a resolution else their uptake of ISE is at risk.
