I have following questions.

1. Which version of smack is compatible with cisco finesses.(I am using Finesse 10.5).
2. Is there any sample available for java desktop application available for capturing XMPP events?
3. Can I receive JSON instead of XML from finesse XMPP?

Which version of smack is compatible with cisco finesses.(I am using Finesse 10.5).

Finesse uses Smack version 3.2.2 in 10.5. This doesn't mean that newer versions doesn't work with Finesse 10.5.

Unfortunately not.

Nope. Finesse XMPP sends XML only.

Feel free to browse here.   Look specifically at Xmpp.java which has been working fine with smack 3.1 and all Finesse versions I've used so far.
