IoX support considerations for 89x

Hi Experts,

We would like to run IoX on 891FJ but the resource requirement is challenging for our use cases.

Is there anyone could confirm those considerations?

1. For the storage: Do we support USB storage support on 891FJ? supported format or size?

2. For the Memory: Do we support the Linux SWAP on the IoX?

3. For the CPU: IoX will only run on the 2nd core, does it mean there will be no impact to IOS, even IoX consume 100% CPU resources on the 2nd Core?

Best Regards

Liang

I don’t think 891 supports IOx. For the supported platform, please refer to https://developer.cisco.com/site/iox/docs/#supported-platforms and https://communities.cisco.com/docs/DOC-57389 (Supported Platform part).

Regarding your questions for IOx, it supports USB storage for IR8x9 IOx. For details, please refer to Cisco DevNet: IOx - Docs. And for IOx, there is a realtime hypervisor for virtualization. It is also possible to re-allocate the CPU resources for the IOx.

Thank you for your reply!

In the sample configuration section, it says "Here is the sample configuration on c819/c88x/c89x.",

I think the 891FJ should be supported unless it is a document bug.

At last, do you have any advise to increase the virtual memory size by SWAP?

It supports C89x such as 896, 897, 898, 899, as you can see in Cisco ISR819 IOx Local Manager User Guide.pdf. And it is recommended to use IR809, IR829, ISR819, IE4K, etc. as IOx nodes.

For IOx, it supports disk-repartition for GOS. but it does not support to increase SWAP.
