Cisco 3504 WLC as backup controller in a N+1 redundancy architecture

Hi,

Let's consider many 2504, 3504 and vWLC R8.5, in N+1 redundancy architecture.

No HA SKU exist for 3504.

Is it possibile to use a AIR-CT3504-K9, without license, as backup controller up to 150 AP ?

Documentation confirm 3504 supports N+1 redundancy, but it's not clear if I can use it as backup WLC.

Thank you.

Simone

The 3504 controller platform supports the new RTU (right to use) licensing scheme. If you configure this in a 1:1 HA configuration, the license count will be synchronized from the primary controller. If you are using the platform in an N:1 HA configuration, you’ll simply need to configure the maximum platform AP count in the RTU licensing section.

Thanks,

Darren
